YUVRAJ AND ARNAV INTO THE FINALS, TUSHAR MISSES OUT

Chennai:A day which was going well on the right track for the Indians as YuvrajWadhwani and Arnav Sareen entered into the finals of U-13 & U-15 categories respectively. Everyone was expecting Tushar Shahanito deliver later in the day in the U-19 category, but it was not meant to be as the 25th Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship reached the final moments on Saturday at the ISA.

Tushar Shahani(5/8) was up against the sprightly second seed Hong Kong player Chung Yat Long. The match was a close one affair as both the players fought hard to reach the finals. Chung had the better of exchanges towards the end stages of the two games yet in the third game, the momentum shifted towards Tushar again. Tushar had the HongKong player running all around and gave a flicker of hope of an extended contest and more. But showing clear signs of tiring, the Indian conceded the lead early in the fourth game and lost his way.

Earlier both Yuvraj and Arnav were fluent in their victories. Both now await opponents from Pakistan in the title match. The pick was Abbas Zeb, a young and an exciting prospect from Pakistan who caused the biggest upset of the day when he beat the top seed, Siow Yee Xian of Malaysia.

No Indians feature in the girls section but there could have been one in Tiana Parasrampuria in the U-13 group. Such was her close match against the second seed Lee Sze Lok of Hong Kong. Tiana had won the first two games but lost grip there. The Hong girl pushed the contest to five games and clinched the decider 15-13 for an exciting finish.
