Noida Extension: The inaugural N.M Memorial Cricket Tournament 2018 organized by G Sports came to its conclusion today after UBCA defeated Ozone CA by 26 runs to clinch the trophy at Teevra Cricket Ground, Greater Noida.

UBCA who has been one of the most consistent teams throughout the tournament edged Ozone CA in the finals by 26 runs in an absolutely insane manner as Ozone went from 149/3 to getting all out at 163 while chasing.

The coin toss went in favour of UBCA as they decided to bat first in the final match. Tarun and Rishi Rawat opened the proceedings for UBCA whereas the man of the match award winner in the semi final for Ozone CA Mukul Yadav led the bowling attack. Tarun and Rishi added 29 for the first wicket as Tarun was awe struck by Mukul Yadav’s wonderful delivery hitting his pads in line. On the other hand Ozone very quickly struck twice and Rahul Verma who came to at number 3 was also sent back to the pavilion without scoring a run. Rishi Rawat stood firm on the other end but his teammates kept on losing wickets cheaply. With 4 down at 115, Ankit came to the crease and helped Rishi posting a fighting total. Rishi and Ankit scored 60 and 40 respectively with both adding a crucial 100 runs on the board. Ozone’s Aniket Porwal’s 3 for 21 restricted UBCA at just 189 in 39.1 overs.

Ozone’s Karan and Sanskar started the chase in the second innings of the match. With the first half going in favour of Ozone, UBCA had to take wickets if they wanted to win. But that wasn’t the case as Ozone started quite well with every batsman at least getting into the double figures. Ozone reached 149 for 3 in just 30 overs and looked very comfortable in chasing the score set up by UBCA. With 7 wickets in hand and two set batsman out there on the crease Ozone CA were looking clear favourites to win the finale. But as you say its better late than never, UBCA who were on the back foot throughout the match, remarkably came back roaring in the final stages of the match led by their bowler Ankit. His match defining bowling spell reduced Ozone CA from 149 for 3 to 157 for 8. All the momentum that was there on Ozone’s side up till now was now shifted towards UBCA. With 8 down at 157 and still 33 runs required Ozone lost their way and got all out on 163 in 37.1 overs.

From 149 for 3 to getting bowled out at 163, no one was to blame rather than the Ozone CA themselves. Ankit’s 3 wickets for 8 runs in his 4.1 overs turn out to be the game changing moment and he was rewarded with the man of the match award. The losing side’s Ankit Porwal won the player of the match for his 3 wickets in the first innings.

Brief scores: UBCA 189 all out in 39.1 overs (Rishi Rawat 60; Aniket Porwal 5.1-0-21-3) beat Ozone CA 163 all out in 37.1 overs (Sahil Malik 37, Ankit 4.1-0-08-03) by 26 runs.
