SAURAV & JOSHNA PROGRESSES INTO SECOND ROUND

CHICAGO: The first rounds of the PSA World Championship started on Saturday as Saurav Ghosal and Joshna Chinappa of India made their way into the second round after winning their respective matches.
The highest ranked Indian, Saurav Ghosal just required 33 minutes to defeat his opponent. Ghosal got the better of Dimitri Steinmann from Switzerland by 11-3, 11-5, 11-3 and now he is drawn against France’s Lucas Serme in the next round. In men’s squash, two another Indians, Ramit Tandon and Vikram Malhotra were knocked out in the first round itself. Ramit lost to a sixth seed Miguel Rodriguez of Columbia by 11-3, 11-6, 11-8 whereas Vikram was well beaten by England’s Richie Fallows 11-9. 11-8. 11-4.
In women’s Squash Fourteenth Seeded Joshna defeated Ineta Mackevia of Latvia by a scoreline of 11-5, 11-3, 11-7. Joshna was the lone entry from India’s contingent and now she plays Joey Chan of Hong Kong in the second round.
