STATE JUNIOR BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIP GET’S UNDERWAY

Ghaziabad: The U.P State U-19 Junior Badminton Championship 2018 got underway on Thursday at Mahamaya Sports Stadium Court Ghaziabad. The Tournament is set to be played between 15th of November till 18th November.
The Chief Guest for the inauguration ceremony was News Broadcasters Association of India’s Chief Rajat Sharma. He said “Badminton also needs a similar glamour and money as it is in cricket. This would help in attracting youngster’s attention in Badminton and thus increasing their interest in the game.”
Further he said “Badminton is a perfect game to be played if you want to remain fit because of the use of very less sports equipment.” Citing an example of Rajya Sabha Member Ramjeth malani, Rajat Sharma said “at the age of 92 he’s still very fit just because of this game. People have started making badminton courts inside their homes.”
Also on the occasion was present Rajya Sabha Member and Olympic sports association vice president Dr. Anil Aggrawal. He said “Centre and state governments are very active in terms of sports. PM Narendra Modi started Khelo India and motivated the school students to participate in this revolutionary step. It is due to these efforts that India has won the maximum number of medals for the first time after the Independence. Government is providing all the players with better equipments and facilities. Not only this we are also helping these players by providing professional coaches at the very starting level. Player’s diet is also been taken care off.
The event was organized by District Badminton Association Championship Secretary Narendra Sharma. Also on the occasion district sports official Gadadhar Bariki, Devendra Hitkari, Lalit Jaiswal, Anjul Agrawal, Gulshan Bhanwari, Amit Sharma and Arvind Chaudhary were present.
