MAHESH MANGAONKAR CLAIMS HIS 7th PSA TITLE, VIKRAM REACHES FINAL

BRUSSELS: India’s squash player Mahesh Mangaonkar claimed his seventh PSA Title after clinching the Brussels Open on Saturday. Mahesh, the top seeded Indian came head to head against second seed Jan Van den Herrewegen from Belgium in the finals. As expected the final continued for almost one and half hours which saw the match rallied up to five games. Finally Mahesh was the one who came out happy of the two finalists winning 11-6, 6-11, 11-8, 4-11, 13-11.
Mahesh enjoyed a very easy set of fixtures throughout the tournament as not even a single player managed to give him a tough fight except the one in the final. Mahesh defeated Joeri Hapers of Belgium in the first round of the tournament and went on to beat Robin Gadola of Switzerland and Carlos Cornes of Spain in quarterfinal and semi finals respectively.

Second seed Vikram defeated the fourth seed Shawn Delierre of Canada 12-14, 15-13, 11-6, 15-13 in the semi-final. Previously Vikram won against Hasnat Farooqi of England in the first round and the seventh seed Matias Tuomi of Finland in the quarterfinals. Vikram now faces a tough opponent in the face of top seed Dimitri Steinmann of Switzerland in the finals.
