GHAZIABAD: Another weekend passed and another set of five KPL Matches were played on the weekend with two scheduled on Saturday whereas three on Sunday. Team Amex, Axa XI, Teleperformance, KPMG and ALFA were victorious this weekend.
To start with Team Amex IT faced Xcl Software in the first game on Saturday and bowled XCL all out at just 92 in 17.3 Overs. Amex’s Karthik Sindhu picked 3 for 12 in his 4 overs to force XCL on back foot. With only 93 to chase, Amex IT did it with utter ease in just 13.5 overs with Amjad Ali being their highest scorer at 29 not out. Karthik was awarded the man of the match award for his wonderful spell in the first innings. The next match was contested amongst Wipro Gurgaon and AXA XI which again turned out be a second low scoring match on the day. Wipro was outplayed by some brilliant bowling efforts by the AXA bowlers. Mridul picked up 3 wickets for 16 and Amit, Dheeraj struck couple of times a piece. The low scoring affair was made interesting by some power hitting of the AXA Opener Badrish Naithani, who with the help of 12 four’s and 6 sixes played an unbelievable knock of 94 runs in 31 deliveries hitting at a strike rate of 303 .23. The other opener remained not out and was just given an opportunity to play 7 balls throughout the innings. AXA chased the total in 6 overs due to Man of the match awardee Nithani’s impressive knock.
If Saturday turned out to be a low scoring day, everyone had high hopes the next day. In fact no one got disappointed as Teleperformance added a huge total of 196 for 4 against Zee Media in the first game on Sunday. It was Sahil Bhardwaj’s 85 off 52 and the captain Vishal’s 54 run knock that took their total almost to 200. In response Zee Media was unable to make any impact as they were bowled out at 124 in14.5 overs with Ajay being their highest scorer at 33. Varun Bhardwaj of Tele picked 4 wickets to ensure his side’s victory by 72 runs and Sahil Bhardwaj was declared the man of the match award.
Next it was a contest between KPMG and Sunlife Financial which was closely edged by KPMY by 11 runs. Batting first KPMG set a target of 140 for the Sunlife to chase, with Vivek Srivastava playing a 76 run inning in 55 balls. Though Vivek scored a half century, the total of 140 looked a smaller one but Sunlife was unable to chase the score due to some outstanding bowling efforts by the KPMG Bowlers. Deepak Gupta picked 3 wickets for 15 to restrict Sunlife on 128 thus winning the contest by 11 runs.
The last game on Sunday again ended as a close affair with ALFA edging Intercon Buildtech by 12 runs. ALFA gave a target of 146 in 20 overs after some good batting effort by Naveed Chaudhary, scoring 55 off 44 balls. The target didn’t looked big enough but once again team batting first managed to restrict their opponents in the second innings well under the target. Intercon’s Gajji managed 37 runs but couldn’t help his side crossing the winning line. Javed Ali of ALFA picked 3 for 30 in his four overs for his side. Naved’s 55 run’s proved crucial and thus he was declared the man of the match.
