JOSHNA EXITS, SAURAV GHOSAL REMAINS THE LAST INDIAN HOPE

CHICAGO: India’s Joshna Chinappa dealt a major setback after she was knocked out in the second round of PSA World Squash Championship here in Chicago on Sunday. Though India still remains hopeful as Saurav Ghosal progressed into the pre quarterfinal stage of the tournament.
In the second round, the 11th seed Indian Saurav Ghosal faced his French opponent Lucas Serme who showed some initial resistance in the first game but Saurav was quick to retaliate as the first game ended with a score line of 13-11. The next two games were comparatively easier with Saurav winning by 11-6 and 11-8. The contest between Saurav and his opponent lasted up to 48 minutes with Indian getting better off the French opponent.
Though Saurav progressed into the next round, India faced a huge blow in the women’s squash as Joshna was eliminated by 18th seed Joey Chan of Hong Kong. The Hong Kong player defeated Joshna in straight sets 12-10, 11-7, 11-7.
